Geese

No you won't be attacked by the geese!
Contrary to popular belief, not all ganders are aggressive, they are however very protective. Geese are the most amazing watchdogs. They honk away minutes before the dogs know anyone is around. We breed a lot of baby Sebastopol and Sebastopol cross geese each year and also supply eggs. The eggs make particularly delicious omelettes, having more yolk and less white than a hen's egg and so providing a creamier, richer taste and texture.

Emus

Emus are a vey primitive prehistoric bird with an extremely inquisitive nature. Because they are big and come rushing over many people think they are dangerous but they are not at all.
We have 5 boys who love to dance and can put on quite a show. They are certified kleptomaniacs though so fixing the fence usually means chasing them around after the tools.

Silky Bantams

We are a real chicken - yes really!
Not actually a bantam but a chicken, you can be forgiven the "fopar" on account of their small size.
Incredibly cute and adorable, but the rooster still thinks he's 10 feet tall.

Muscovy Ducks

Yes we can fly; it's just that we'd rather waddle!
Gorgeous big prehistoric looking muscovies. We have 3 rescued boys in our care who were dumped down the riverbed. Although they are ducks they are not great waterfowl and are quite happy with a bath or bucket of water instead of a pond. We call ours the 3 stooges as they love attention and to be hand fed.

Paradise Ducks

From time to time wild ducks will grace us with their presence and this year we have the ultimate privilege of providing a home for their babies too. They have been coming to us for a few years now as a shelter during duck shooting season but this year they have decided to stay.

Turkeys

Christmas dinner coming up! Well what else would you think when ones sitting on the kitchen table squawking except - cranberry sauce?
Well our current pair aren't for eating; we do hope to get little ones one day.
We have 2 different sorts of Turkey. The boy is a big 'wild type' looking bronze boy (who's actually very tame). Our girl is a white Tegal Turkey escapee, who loves cuddles.
